Today marks a big milestone in my life. Almost 1 in 5 people have some form of sinus disease and 1 in 10 may have a more long lasting, serious version of the disease. Despite this, no patient organisations exist which focus solely on sinus diseases…anywhere…in the world! Having suffered from chronic sinus disease for over 20 years, a condition that has dominated my life, I’ve decided to change this.

Today I have a stand at the British Rhinological Society (BRS) annual conference to launch Sinus UK. A not-for-profit patient organisation, founded by myself and Naomi Knill, committed to improving information for sinus patients and supporting greater recognition of the impact of sinus related diseases.

Studies show that the impact of sinus disease on a patient’s life may be greater than other chronic illnesses such as heart failure, angina and COPD. Sinus patients therefore deserve better information about their disease and more recognition from society about the impact it has.

Wish us luck!
